The CAC Women’s Community Society will be providing a $1000.00 scholarship, to be awarded annually, to a player from the Canadian Athletic Club who has played with the CAC for 3 or more hockey seasons.
The DEADLINE for scholarship applications is March 15th of the current year. Late applications will not be accepted. Only completed applications will be considered. The scholarship will be awarded based on the strengths of those who apply; nominees may be interviewed if deemed necessary. Once an individual receives a CAC Women’s Community Society Scholarship, they are no longer eligible. (A player may only receive this award once.)
Applicants must complete the application below and provide the following relevant information and email to cacwcsscholarship@gmail.com:
A. School Marks (from current academic year)- Provide a Statement of Marks (current as of March 1st) validated by an administrator or counselor, OR provide an official Alberta Education transcript showing your courses completed as of March 15th.
B. Athletic Accolades - Provide a list of teams you have played for in the last 5 years; include any leadership roles you have held and accolades you have received.
C. Student Statement - A personal statement about yourself, no more than two pages, addressing why you feel you deserve the scholarship. D. Reference Letter (one only) - A current letter from a non-family member describing your character, contributions and leadership activities. Please ensure the person who writes your letter includes their contact information (phone number and email).
The awarded funds will be held in escrow until the CAC Women’s Community Society receives enrollment confirmation from a post-secondary education institution. The scholarship will be forwarded to the recipient directly. The winner will also receive a letter acknowledging their award; this letter will explain that the scholarship will be forfeited back to the Scholarship Fund should the recipient not use the funds by a specific date; the date will be stated in the letter. (A recipient will have 2 years, from their high school graduation, to claim the scholarship.)
