U15 AAA/U15 AA Teams

CAC 2024/2025 U15 AAA and AA Hockey Program

CAC hosted ID skates and prep skates in the spring of 2024. There were a couple of reasons why CAC hosted these events. Players had to decide which route they wanted to pursue for the 2024/2025 season, the Hockey Canada, Hockey Academy, or HSL route.  While each program has unique features, the CAC has always followed the Hockey Canada route. The skates were designed to help players choose which program they wanted to go with. Our 2024/2025 coaches were present and helped with promoting our program. The skates are not categorized as tryouts but are to help coaches identify possible prospects for all 3 U15 teams, 60 players in total.

The CAC will be operating one U15 AAA team and two U15 AA teams. All teams will be part of the Alberta Elite Hockey League. The tryouts for all 20 positions on the U15 AAA team and the 2 - U15 AA teams officially start on August 24, 2024.

All U15 players try out at the U15 AAA level first.

You will receive an email approximately one week before the first ice time. Please note all ice times and groups will be posted on the CAC website. You should always go there as changes arise throughout the tryout process.

U15 players will be divided randomly into groups. All 13 and 14-year-olds will be grouped, with both age categories observed and evaluated by the coaching staff of the U15 AAA and U15 AA teams and by the corresponding Category Directors as well as other members of the Hockey Operations Committee as required.

There will be a separate goalie evaluation. Goaltenders will be emailed their group and time. All groups and times will be on the CAC website

An injury or illness incurred at tryout time might cause the player to lose out on an opportunity to try out with CAC. It is a coach’s discretion whether an ill or injured player continues for further evaluation. The Club is not required to hold positions open for ANY player while they heal from an illness or injury, or is trying out with another Club in the Player Movement process.

All remaining players will report to the U15AA tryouts or contact the CAC registrar for player movement processes at the U15AAA level.

The top 40 U15AA players will participate in a Red vs White game, A draft will form the 2 U15AA teams.

All remaining players will report to the U15AA tryouts or contact the CAC registrar for the player movement process at the U13AAA level.

U15 Releases

At the U15 levels, rosters will be pared down to within one or two players of being “set” by the start of the pre-season and be finalized shortly thereafter. If the tryouts in your district begin during this time frame, it is advisable that you communicate with your district Registrar or U15 Category Director to ensure knowledge of their tryout timelines.

All U15-age players released from U15AAA or U15AA may contact the CAC Registrar to enter the U15 AAA or U15AA Player Movement process, to try out for another city club
