Hockey Edmonton U 13 AAA Non Resident Player Process

The following is the process for how non resident players who would like to play U13 AAA hockey in Edmonton will be managed. 

General: 

All player applications must be directed to Glenn (glenn.sommerville@hockeyedmonton.ca) using the provided form.

Only players from MHAs that are not hosting U13 AAA teams are eligible to apply as per Hockey Alberta regulations. 

The office will be responsible for allocating players. This allocation will based on Club needs first, followed by the player’s team request and the residency of the player. 

Clubs have the option to accept players for tryouts, however it is under the all or non principle meaning that a Club must either invite all the players on the list to try out or none to tryout. 

If a Club does not choose to accept non resident players for try outs, those players will be allocated to one of the other Clubs for tryouts based on the above criteria. 

Clubs are responsible for contacting players, completing the NTO, registration, transfer/share file. HCR Shares should be dated for September 20. 

Tryout fee must be consistent for all 4 Clubs. 

Players that are released from U13 AAA may be granted a 2nd tryout in Edmonton if available or will be returned to their Resident MHA for next level tryouts. 

Non-Resident Players are not permitted to tryout for U13 AA. 

Process for players seeking 2nd tryout opportunities if permitted, will be consistent and follow the same process as AAA tryouts in U15 AAA, U17 AAA, and U18 AAA. 

Timelines: 

August 16: The deadline for any non resident players to apply to try out for U13 AAA. 

August 19: The office will allocate those that have registered amongst the clubs. 

August 20: Each club will be provided that list. 

August 21: Clubs must inform the office if they do not want to open their tryouts to the non resident players listed. 

August 22: If necessary, any remaining players will allocated to the clubs accepting non resident players for tryouts. 

August 22: Clubs will contact the players on their list to provide them with the club’s try out information. 

September 7: Teams can have no more than 5 non resident players in camp at any given time. 

September 15: Teams can have no more than 17 players on their roster at any given time. 

September 17: U13 AAA tryouts must be complete. 

September 19: U13 AA tryouts must be complete.
