The Edmonton Sport Institute is pleased to announce the establishment of the IMaJIN Injury Clinic, a program designed to assess, diagnose and treat sport related injuries within the first 24-48 hours after the injury. The Clinic has been set up by 5 orthopedic surgeons and 2 primary care physicians who have identified the delays and problems that athletes have using the existing injury care system:
- Long waiting times at most emergency departments
- Long delays for referral from family physicians to orthopedic surgeons if required
- Delays in injury diagnosis causing less optimal treatment
This Clinic has been set up with physician funding, so there is no cost whatsoever for athletes with valid health care coverage. Using trained Injury Care Coordinators in the Clinic, the IMaJIN physicians and surgeons will try to provide the most timely, efficient and comprehensive treatment for your organization’s sport injuries.
Of note, plans are presently being developed for a regular Athlete Concussion Clinic in the future, in order to address the need for comprehensive care of these very common sport related injuries.
I have taken the liberty of attaching a copy of our IMaJIN Information Sheet. Feel free to have a look at it and if interested, go to www.imajinalberta.com to find out more about the Clinic.
If you would like copies of the IMaJIN Information Sheet for your teams and athletes, please contact our Clinic Administrator, Danica Petrie by telephone at 780-451-1234 or by e-mail at dpetrie@edmontonsportinstitute.com.
Best wishes for a successful and safe sporting season.
