Gregg Distributors Midget AAA

Mission Statement: We strive to provide and environment that encourages development that not only addresses the attainment of hockey skill and knowledge but also keys on positive character growth. By doing this we provide the platform for every player to have an opportunity to step to the next level in the hockey progression.

League: AMHL - premiere midget hockey league in North America.

Season Highlights: 34 league games plus playoffs culminating in a trip to the National Midget AAA Championship Telus Cup.

- Macs Invitational Midget AAA Hockey Tournament in December.

Coaches:

Guy Paradis (HC) - 25 years of head and assistant coaching experience. Currently entering the fourth season as HC with Gregg Distributors (2014/15 AMHL North Division Champions, 2014/15 Glen Sather Award recipient for AMHL Coach of the Year). 5 years coaching experience in the AJHL with the St Albert Saints and the Sherwood Park Crusaders (1995/96 AJHL Champions, Doyle Cup finalist - St. Albert Saints). 5 seasons with Stony Plain Eagles Sr. AAA as a playing head coach (Hardy Cup Champions 91/92, 92/93, 93/94, 94/95, Allan Cup Champion 99). Inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 as a member of the 1999 Stony Plain Eagles Allan Cup Champions. Playing history - SJHL, WHL, WIHL and 5 seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears (National Champions 85/85, Canada West Champions 88/89, 90/91). Coach mentor for Hockey Alberta Futures Leaders Program.

Shawn Thomson (AC) - Shawn played Bantam AAA for CAC in minor hockey. His junior career starting with the Junior B Warriors, playing 2 seasons and winning cities the first year. He then moved to the Junior B Red Wings for a season and a half. Shawn was also a referee for 7 years at the Midget AA level. For the last 5 years Shawn have been coaching and training, the last 3 years have been with CAC Midget AAA.

Bradley Matsuba(AC) - The upcoming 2016-17 season will be my fourth year coaching at the Canadian Athletic Club, and third year coaching in the AMHL with the Gregg Distributors as an Assistant Coach. Prior, I was an Assistant Coach at Bantam AA with Alberta Honda. During this tenure I have obtained my Respect in Sport and Development I certifications. Growing up, Brad played house league for various teams including the Garrison Warriors and Northeast Zone. Noted accomplishments during his playing career include two minor hockey week championships, a city championship and a Wayne Gretzky Award which was awarded in 2009 during my final year of midget hockey.

Kurtis Mucha (AC- Goalie) - Kurtis grew up in the Sherwood Park hockey system before eventually moving on to play for the Portland Winter Hawks and Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League. After a successful junior career and a couple NHL main camps, Kurtis decided to use his WHL scholarship package and play at the University of Alberta with the Golden Bears. Kurtis enjoyed some personal success with the Bears but more importantly team success in winning 4 Canada West league

championships, and 2 national championships. After finishing with the Golden Bears, Kurtis made the transition into coaching after receiving the opportunity to work for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL. Outside of the Oil Kings, Kurtis currently works with the Spruce Grove Saints and Sherwood Park Crusaders of the AJHL, and a few local AAA teams as well. Kurtis is looking forward to the opportunity in working with the CAC Gregg Distributors under Guy Paradis this upcoming season.

Off Ice Training: Addressing balance, mobility, flexibility, agility stamina and strength.

Bree Guhle (Joga Instructor) - Bree studied kinesiology before attending her Registered Yoga Teacher Training 200 hr, once she completed her certification she went on to discover Joga, which she knew right away was exactly what she wanted to do. She is now a Master Joga Trainer in Edmonton, Alberta. Bree has worked with CAC for two years and more specifically Gregg Distributors, teaching the hockey players Joga. They have learnt the value of stretching and how to stretch properly for their bodies. Bree works with many professional athletes in hockey, football, and basketball within the city. The highlight of her career so far was working with the Edmonton Eskimos in their 2015 Grey Cup season. In the future she sees herself travelling around teaching Joga to professional athletes and teams outside of Canada!
